Q. You claim to pay so much more, how can that be?

A. Because buying precious metals is all we do. Unlike other companies, Houston Gold relies on its reputation of paying high prices for gold. Other companies have many other revenue streams such as selling jewelry, diamonds and watches. High volumes translates into high prices for our customers.

Q. How does it work?

A. Bring in your items and we will give you a verbal appraisal.

Q. Do I need a appointment?

A. No appointment is necessary.

Q. How long does it take?

A. It largely depends on the number of items, usually 5-10 minutes.

Q. Some of my items are broken, do you purchase these as well?

A. Yes, gold is very valuable. Most are very surprised at how valuable.

Q. If I decide to sell my items how will I be paid?

A. Houston Gold pays cash for most purchases.

Q. Do I need to present any form of identification?

A. Yes, the law requires photo identification.

Q. Will I receive a 1099 from Houston Gold on the items I sell?

A. No.

Q. Some of my items have gem stones, how do they factor?

A. Most gem stones are lab created and have no value.

Q. Will you remove the stones that I want to keep?

A. In most cases yes, it mainly depends on how they are set.

Q. What about diamonds, some of my things have small diamonds?

A. Due to the current economic conditions, small diamonds have little value. The true value of most jewelry is the content of the gold due to high gold prices. However our staff is trained to spot items that are not worth selling at this time and may recommend that you not sell them at this time.

Q. What about larger diamonds, do you purchase them?

A. Yes, we are a very competitive buyer for larger, quality stones.

Q. I want to mail in my items, how safe is it and will I get the same price?.

A. The USPS is very safe and reliable. Customers who chose the Mail In Option receive the same great service and price as our walk in customers.
